It seems for the past month and a half; I’ve been writing angry blogs or quite negatively in context. I’m not an angry person, but I am super loyal and protective of my family and friends. It’s sort of a hot button for me, but who doesn’t have things that set them off, right?
I’m calling myself out, because I can’t preach my “stay positive” posts and messages without living by them myself. I know it’s hard at times, life can be really challenging and difficult to maneuver, but we have to maintain a healthy life balance for our loved ones that not only depend on us but love us so much.
Sometimes, I just have to take a few steps back and be thankful for all of the amazing things that encompass my life. I’m a truly blessed individual, as well as the folks around me. I absolutely can’t take any of it for granted. Not that I ever would, but vocalizing it helps me stay humble.
I have a few things I like to do to help drive this balance. #1: Pay it forward!
This is super rewarding and beneficial all at the same time. Not only does it feel good to give, but you can make someone’s entire day! It doesn’t always have to be money related, even though it’s the most common way of getting this done. A cup of coffee for someone behind you in a drive-thru can go a long way! Holding the door for someone, letting someone pass you in in line at your grocery store and so many other things.
Here's a real life example… I know some of you who read this site are familiar with tattoos and you might have seen that I’m covered in them lol. Well, imagine a Sunday morning just after church services are done and the wife and I head to our local breakfast joint. Sitting across from us was this adorable elderly couple. We finished our meal before them, and I couldn’t help but notice all of the looks at the super tattooed guy! (Doesn’t bother me) The wife and I decide to grab their check and pay for their breakfast. Thinking in my head that maybe they’re judging me or intrigued a bit, doesn’t matter. Mind you, we do this often and always ghost the place before they figure out who paid it forward!
Imagine if they were judging me or us and then realized that we bought their meal? THIS, my friends, is my heart at work. The couple didn’t seem as if they were really judging me, but if they were, what would they say to each other after they found out this freak of life took care of them in a way that they would never think would be a possibility?! Yes, it’s just breakfast, but for people to see inside and under the tattoos is what made this situation so rewarding to us and them…
Look, we have good and bad people to deal with at the end of the day, but that doesn’t change who we are and what we’re about. Stay positive, right?! Yes!!! It can be karma, the stars aligning, GOD, a higher power or whatever you hold true to faith. Hang on to that and drive yourself forward with an amazing heart and no negativity.
Here’s a challenge for you…
The next time someone passes you or sees you and asks how are you doing today, reply with “would you really like to know, because I would love to know how you’re doing”? You may get some different results, but the one person that says, Ok, let’s chat and no, I’m not Ok. The golden opportunity just surfaced to interact and help someone or be there for them. (No money, but paying it forward)
I know there won’t be a lot of folks that will do this, but those that do will get it and truly feel like I do on a daily. I’ve had more challenges recently than positive things to reflect on, but this stuff keeps me going and so do you!! I want to hear from you. Tell me it didn’t work or tell me it failed. However, what if it did?????
Give it a shot, DAYLIGHT is just ahead…
